It’s been a moment since I last reviewed this & frankly since then they have genuinely improved on the flavour of this #friedrice 🙌 There’s some hear-say on the head chef being a #vegetarian perhaps being the cause for this change 👨🍳 Whatever it may be, I welcome it 🤗 This is actually 2 servings, plated as 1, as a bunch of friends and I were sharing a bunch of dishes after a lovely day at the beach 🏖️ The content seems more or less the same, with the regular #mixedvegetables, canned #mushroom 🍄🟫, and oh #raisins 😛 So it’s really something else that must’ve changed. The #umami just hits right now 🤌 Order it with some #soup or the #hericiummushroom and you’re set with a dish that’ll impress. This isn’t the most accessible spot to explore the #veganinkuching scene since you’ll need to be with a club member to dine here, but hey that’s why you gotta make friends with vegans in every city 😆
It’s #friedrice 🥡 which is my way of saying the bar set for such a dish needs to be recognised as lower. FYI you’ll need to ask the kitchen to #droptheegg to make sure it’s properly #veganized 🤓 Nothing special here. It’s just your run of the mill #fried #rice tossed to a considerably respectable #wokhei 🔥 Admittedly, the choice of #vegetables could have been more. Here, we’ve got your typical mix of #carrots 🥕 what could’ve been more baby corn 🌽 and what appeared to be #bokchoy stems 🥬 For Kuching standards, I can’t be surprised by the presence of only 1 protein. That being the #mushroom 🍄 I was still satisfied enough since they seasoned it quite nicely on top of the good amount of char it had 😗 Like all their #asian #stirfry variants, this one clocks in at RM 8.50 😶 The recession is real, y’all… I think if the club had enough #vegetarian members, they could easily step up their game 🥸
Got this at the main hall cafeteria~ It’s a pleasant #friedrice but nothing too special. I also thought it lacked salt so I baptised the entire thing in #soysauce and chillies 🌶 You’ll have to #veganize it by asking that they #droptheegg - in spite of the menu saying that all vegetarian items on the menu *do not* contain garlic, onion, or egg 😐 I only know this because I had to send my first serving back. Bonus here was that when I pointed out the bits that looked like egg when the dish first arrived is that they said they were baby corn bits 😑 At least you’d feel less bad doing so at a clubhouse, you’re allowed to be an annoying demanding vegan here 😗 #veganisnotscary
