SCARIEST vegan meal of my life 👀 - this steamed not-chicken was so well-executed it looked and tasted like real chicken. At one point I even thought I had bitten into actual tiny bone shards 😱 (probably just bits of star anise). Everything was fabulous here: pandan-matic sesame oiled rice, fresh coriander sprigs, spring onion stalks, thinly sliced tomato and cucumbers. Presentation was the only thing wanting since everything seemed haphazardly plopped onto the plate. But hey, that is entirely consistent with authentic hawker cuisine 🙃. Kudos to the hawkers here who knows their stuff - apparently they did actually sell chicken rice before becoming vegetarians and so flipped the menu too to the #crueltyfree side.
I’ve eaten this dish before and loved it but this time ordered it without rice which I think makes the chicken pieces even nicer because of the additional seasoning. $5 for just chicken only.
$4. Soft and tender ‘chicken’ with fragrant rice. Aunty gave me free radish soup :’)
I’d been planning to check this place out based on reviews on abillion and so glad I finally did cos the chicken was great and chilli even better. Will be going back again for the roasted chicken and other recommended dishes.
