Really disappointed in my first visit to the Glad Cafe. Bought this breakfast for more than £10 (only because their lunch/dinner menu wasn't available and I was starving)!!! There were barely any beans as can be seen in the photo, and the rest of the breakfast could hardly be called a meal. Looking at older photos of this dish it seems as if they've downgraded the breakfast but have retained such a high price. Very unusual for Glasgow eating considering I've bought huge vegan breakfasts at cafes in Edinburgh for much less 😔
Based on previous reviews, it appears that this dish used to have greater quantity and variety (vegan haggis, toasts, link sausage) which made it more filling, according to those reviews. We felt the opposite way, unfortunately. For £11 (most expensive item on the breakfast menu, which is all they were offering that day), we felt like the quantity was very little and did not feel full at all. I liked that the beans were actually cooked there (or it seemed that way) but there were so few, you could basically count them. The taste was nice but based on vegan breakfasts we've had at other places, this was probably the smallest and least filling. Maybe some additional stuff like sliced avocado or scrambled tofu would've helped to bulk it up more. Regardless, we appreciate that this is a fully vegan cafe. We enjoyed the coffee and ambience, although service was a bit slow the day we went.
My favourite vegan haggis so far! Very big filling and satisfying brekky!
