I first got in to Full English breakfast while on an extended
stay for work at the Victoria Lodge in Stockton Heath. I wasn't vegetarian at the time (boo, hiss) and I wanted to try local food that was unique to England. The mix of unique components of the breakfast intrigued me. I went down for a Full English every morning, even though I was mercilessly mocked each day by the cook for asking where to buy an Arsenal jersey the first day I was there. It wasn't even for me, it was for a friend! I'm more of a Bolton Wanderers fan myself.
But anyway, fast forward like 15 years and the opportunity to have a vegan Full English has finally presented itself right here in Milwaukee! 😋 The Layfayette Place offers it's own take on this classic, and every component is amazing!
Tofu scramble, house potatoes, baked beans, Impossible sausage, grilled tomato, roasted portobella mushrooms & toasted Rocket Baby Bakery sourdough round out this dish. Each item is delicious, and it is nice that the sourdough is local to the area.
So if you're ever in the area, put on your favorite Brit Pop record and head on down to The Layfayette Place for a vegan taste of the UK!
