While visiting my sister in Garden City, New York, I walked to ‘The Village’ (a central shopping district) to browse through one of the 3 grocery stores for any unexpected finds. I’m always curious to see what’s available where I don’t live and to compare prices. Mind you, Garden City is an expensive / well-to-do area, so my price comparison exercise is somewhat an “apples to oranges” comparison. Nonetheless, I do it anyways.
One of my unexpected finds was Califia Farms Chocolate Chip Cookie Almond Creamer at Key Food Marketplace. It was $6.99 US (about $9.78 Canadian) which is much more than I would ever pay at home in Toronto (keep in mind that this is Garden City), but I bought it because I have a weakness for chocolate chip cookies. And it was another review opportunity. 😊
Although the price was high, it was on par with other vegan / plant-based and dairy-based creamers. So it wasn’t more expensive simply because it’s vegan.
As I had hoped for, the taste is so good! Just like chocolate chip cookies; I sipped it before adding it to my coffee. I could easily drink it without the coffee! In fact, maybe I’ll add it to the Califia Almond Milk my sister bought for me (although the flavouring isn’t needed, it would be more experimental than anything else).
The sugar content is less than the Silk creamers I normally buy at home. According to the label, it has 25% less sugar than the leading sweetened plant-based creamer brand. Each serving, 1 tablespoon, has 3 grams of sugar. And it’s almost fat-free and low in calories.
My review is the first for this product. I would definitely get this creamer again, but preferably at a cheaper price.
