The menu doesn’t list the ingredients in this drink, but I couldn’t pass it up, considering that this was offered to me as a free reward. I only knew that there was ginger in it by the name, and I envisioned that the Sunshine was for something citrusy, like a lemon or orange. And then when I got it and saw that it was a beautiful bright orange-yellow, I was guessing pineapple and orange. I was so excited because even though I’ve never had this combo, I could imagine what a fantastic combination that would be. Needless to say, I was really disappointed on my first sip and immediately realized that it was turmeric. I do enjoy turmeric in foods (I sprinkle it on a lot of my homemade meals for its health benefits), but this was not a tasty drink at all. It was refreshing though on this very warm day because it was nice and cold with the ice, but honestly, I would have enjoyed plain ice water more than this. I should have known better by “tonic” being part of the name, that it’s medicinal, meant to be invigorating without trying to be tasty (although I’m sure some might find it tasty. It may very well be an acquired taste). I drank it all, and felt good that I was doing my body good, especially for the anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric, which I need for my bad knees, but this isn’t one that I would buy. If I were offered this as a free reward again, I’d take it home, or plan ahead and bring some citrus and pineapple juice to blend it with (a lot of it, to drown out the turmeric taste), so that I could see if it tastes as good as I envision.
