Review of Bak Kut Teh Yam Rice at Red Apple Veggie Café by rumblingradishes

My favourite part of this dish was definitely the #yam rice. Since most commercial versions of yam rice sold outside are not vegetarian, and I'm not a fan of the dried shrimp pieces, the only times I really eat yam rice are when my grandmother cooks it because she doesn't add the shrimp. I was super thrilled to be able to eat this version, but I was also quite disappointed by the portion size for the rice, buried under the ingredients in the flat container. The bak kut teh was pretty mediocre to me, especially in terms of the ingredients, since it was mostly #taupok and #taukee as ingredients, and some #carrots and leafy raw #vegetables. The soup itself was not very memorable, so I guess it was pretty standard in taste. If I do get this dish again, it would mainly be for the yam rice, but even then, the store definitely has better dish options.
