I never specifically asked for vegan. I just let the staff know i wanted mapo tofu (vege) dish. Can someone let me know why this need specified asking ? Because this veg logo mapo tofu (see portion of the menu photo uploaded) seems pretty vegan to me without even specially asking to veganised .. hmm there’s dairy or is it cause there’s a non veg version? Anw love this!

Traditional mapo tofu often has ground pork or beef in it but many places put it on the vegetable section of the menu, so it’s always good to make sure!
They might use meat stock to flavor which can be disguise as you don’t see the ground meat. It’s always best to specify.
