For those who live in Toronto, this restaurant has two locations. We went to the one on Jane Street. It seats about 30 people. I was surprised my dad accepted my offer as he usually gives me a hard time about eating at vegan restaurants, or when I insist that he eat vegan if I’m paying. He normally gets cranky if there’s no meat, fish or “real” cheese available. Anyways, my father, mother, and I enjoyed our experience and meal at Bellona Kitchen. The menu is a mix of vegetarian and vegan offerings. Some of the vegetarian options could be veganized (which we opted to do). My dad ordered a veganized version of Bellona’s Calzone (vegan cheese was substituted for the mozzarella cheese.). My dad absolutely loves calzones which he rarely eats, so to order this was a real treat for him. This thing was huge and half of it was boxed up and taken home. He’ll enjoy it tomorrow for lunch. The calzone was very stuffed with brown rice / mushroom sausage, spiced tofu, cremini mushrooms, roasted red peppers, roasted garlic and vegan cheese. Marinara sauce and a vegan Caesar dressing were served on the side. I had a bite of the calzone and I was very impressed with it. This is something I might have to consider for my next visit. The calzone was $26. I don’t know if that is reasonable or too much, but my dad was very happy with it, so it was more than worth it As we walked out of the restaurant, my dad said to me, “if you come back here, call me”. I’ll definitely be coming back here. There are so many more menu offerings I want to try. Service was excellent. Sofia, our waitress and the owner’s daughter, was incredibly helpful in offering suggestions. According to her, everything except for the cheese is made in-house. I very highly recommend this restaurant and the Bellona’s Calzone (veganized version, of course). By the way, I think it was when I started following Bellona Kitchen on Facebook that I had received a $30 voucher which I used tonight. This is a nice incentive to go try this restaurant. It first opened in 2023.

This is one of two vegan pizzas on the menu. I think some of the other vegetarian pizzas could be veganized. As expected, this pizza was fantastic. I especially liked the very thin crust. My mom had commented on how authentically Italian it was. All the toppings - brown rice / mushroom sausage, cremini mushrooms, roasted red peppers, spinach, mozzarella cheese (vegan, of course) and a tomato base - worked so well together. I wouldn’t normally order spinach on my pizza, but I’m glad I tried it. Without any hesitation, I would definitely get this pizza again. It was reasonably priced at $24. Plus the pleasure of seeing my mom enjoying it was more than worth it As we walked out of the restaurant, my dad said to me, “if you come back here, call me”. I’ll definitely be coming back here. The menu is a mix of vegetarian and vegan offerings. Some of the vegetarian options could be veganized (which we opted to do). We started with Bellona Shareables. This platter was a lot bigger than I had anticipated. It consisted of 3 appetizers: Bruschetta, Truffle Fries and Meatball Sliders (there were 3 sliders to choose from). See the first 6 photos of the food and menu descriptions. All of them were fantastic. My dad didn’t complain about the vegan cheese. I think he was just blown away by how surprisingly good everything tasted and by the novelty of the presentation. The balsamic glaze drizzle on the bruschetta and truffle fries was a wonderful touch; it’s not something that we’re accustomed to having. Also, the mushroom and brown rice combo for the ‘meatballs’ was so delicious that it didn’t really matter that there was no ground beef in it. Without any hesitation, I would definitely get this again as a shareable appetizer. I didn’t realize the price was $37 until now (when I looked up the price to write this review). Yeah, it’s more than I thought it would be, but the taste and the pleasure I derived from my parents really enjoying it were worth it. As we walked out of the restaurant, my dad said to me, “if you come back here, call me”. I’ll definitely be coming back here. There are so many more menu offerings I want to try.
