Brighton’s Open Market is holding a vegan market today and tomorrow which me and my mum stumbled upon to our happy surprise! On top of that, they were giving out free #oggs #cupcakes! I’m not a huge fan of cupcakes but I’ll never pass on free food, and this was actually really good. It’s a bite-sized ball of spongy, vanilla-y goodness, topped with a light, fluffy icing and little colourful sprinkles! Very pretty, delicious little cupcakes with little confetti sugar sprinkles! Oggs aren’t a gluten free brand so you could probably fool people into thinking these weren’t vegan - the sponge is soft, and they’re sweet without being overkill. Like other Oggs products, these are expensive, but give the illusion of being better value as there’s more cakes in a pack (and they’re tiny!). Marked vegan.
I got these from a stall in the Permaculture field at Glastonbury - first time I've ever eaten nine cupcakes at a music festival, but maybe not the last - they were lovely! Light fluffy sponge, tasty buttercream - really good!
These taste lovely, and the icing is great (if you're someone who thinks of cake as basically a vehicle for icing, the ratio of cake to icing isn't quite right, but not bad!) but as you can see from the pic, the cakes don't hold together that well. Still, they're a yummy treat, and my friend and I enjoyed them greatly!
