Raw Cashew Pieces

As a vegan who loves to cook from scratch, I am constantly soaking cashews in the fridge to make mayo, curries, cheeses, and more. I used to buy them at Kroger, since that is where I do my grocery shopping. The only option they have for raw cashews is a 13oz container for $9.49, which equates to $.73 per ounce. Then I discovered this at Traders Joe’s: a 16oz bag for $6.99, which is only $.44 per ounce. MUCH BETTER. Granted, the Trader Joe’s option is pieces, not whole nuts. BUT, I blend them up anyway, so it makes no difference.

Cashews are an easy way to make any cheesy/creamy vegan dish. At Trader Joe's, I saw these prices were a dollar less than the whole cashews, so I went for the pieces. When they're getting blended together anyway, there's no need for them to be whole! I use raw cashews to make these blue cheeses, and brie, for our holiday cheese board. The only ingredients I use are the cashews, a bit of salt and cheese cultures. I love buying nuts at TJ’s, they are always good quality. And I love that they offer a slightly cheaper option that has cashew pieces because it really doesn’t matter to me. I usually eat them for breakfast. Lately I’ve had a bit of trouble finding this product (as well as their whole cashews).
