It was so easy, especially with a stand mixer! I just mixed the gluten and water until it formed a dough. Then I boiled it for about an hour and marinated it for a day. I was super excited to grill it. Since I live in a condo, I visited my mom to use her grill. I'd never really grilled before, so it was fun to learn all the tricks that go along with it. I think the kebabs turned out really great! I would love to make them again. Anthony's vital wheat gluten is my top pick when I want to whip up some "wheat meat." The texture is always perfect and I can always count on the quality. They sell it in a 1.5 lb bag for about $18, but if you go for the 4 lb bag at $25, you get a bit of a deal. They also offer bundles with nutritional yeast or TVP at a discount price. When I’m tired of tofu, “wheat meat” (image 3) is my easy, budget-friendly, and highly customizable protein of choice. I can’t produce consistent results yet — the texture and flavor vary slightly with each batch — but this vital wheat gluten definitely makes the job a lot easier!
