This brand has a very controversial claim that we need 2-3 times more salt than what the government says we need! I don’t know if I really believe this, but this has so much salt that I would never share this with someone who has high blood pressure, which is a lot of people I know. One packet is a whopping 1000 mg, 43%dv (govt standard). I got an offer for a variety pack and the saltines appealed to me because I love the taste of salt, even more so than sweets. I’d give up sugar before salt if I had to make a choice. And I felt it was safe for me to experience this because although my blood tests show that I am within normal range, I’m on the low end, and I work out regularly and manual labor in my yard for long hours in the heat, so I often work up a good sweat. I thought that this would be a refreshing drink to have during those times. It turns out though that I need to add a lot of water to make it palatable (similar to Gatorade). I can’t even tell that this is orange flavored. I think I’ve learned that I prefer eating foods with salt rather than drinking it (like how I like my veggies). I still prefer my usual homemade blackstrap lemonade or some other juice or a fizzy kombucha to keep me energized when working up a sweat. #staysalty is their theme. I’m onboard with that, but via being in the ocean and eating food! #highinsodium #electrolytes #electrolytedrink #workout
