Alive - Ancient Mushroom Elixir Root Beer

I love mushrooms and I love root beer. Put them together? Sure! I've heard lots of good things about this drink, so I decided to try it when I picked up lunch from Trader Joe's. The cashier was even raving about it when I checked out. It does have that classic root beer flavor, but it isn't as sweet. It's only sweetened with maple, erythritol, and stevia. It still has that vinegar flavor found in other GT's drinks. It's not super prominent. This does have caffeine in it from the pu-erh tea, so it can be a good alternative to an iced coffee drink. I really wanted to love this but for me it's just okay. A root beer with medicinal mushrooms, it's fizzy and on the lighter side with flavor. It's a nice healthy option with only 5 grams of sugar but not my favourite GTs drink so far. #rootbeer #mushrooms

Tastes amazing, good ingredients. Has some caffeine too, so a bottle or half is almost enough. Could get off soda if it were to come in packs .. 😅

GTs Alive product line are all so delicious, but the Ancient Mushroom Elixir Root Beer takes the top spot for me! I feel like this is what root beer was meant to taste like until companies started adding loads of sugar to it. It has a strong “root beer” flavor, without the crazy sweetness. A little earthy, a little sweet, and a lot of refreshness!

The flavor was okay. It wasn’t too bad. The first sip was good, and then it wasn’t so good. It tasted a little like #rootbeer, and equally of the nutmeg. I love that they used three different kinds of #mushrooms as part of this #probiotic beverage. It also has only 5g of #sugar, 4 of them were added. They also make a coca-cola one, which I will try next time!
