Popular vegan butter brand, Miyoko’s Creamery has created the world’s first vegan cottage cheese made from watermelon seeds! 🍉
It’s the first of its kind and will be in retail stores in early 2023. Made from organic watermelon seed milk and sunflower seed milk, their cottage cheese is similar to traditional dairy-based ones, and no cows will have to suffer.
Miyoko’s vegan cottage cheese also features a high protein content, offering 10 grams of plant-based protein per half cup serving. During the R&D process, Miyoko’s team researched how different plants and their proteins work in cheesemaking. They discovered that watermelon seeds are rich in a protein called globulin (a group of proteins in blood). Globulins play an important role in liver function, blood clotting, and fighting infection. #funfacts
