I wasn’t in much of a faux meat mood during my most recent lunchtime visit to Happy Flower, so we decided to try this saucy #eggplant and #tofu dish (ordered with a side of white rice.) It consists of “eggplant, bell pepper, Thai basil & tofu sautéed in savory sauce” and can be made #glutenfree on request. It was $15 (+ $3 extra for the rice.)
The eggplant was cooked just right, to the point of being tender but not mushy. The sauce was hard to describe, but delicious: it was simultaneously sweet, savory, garlicky, and fragrant with #basil. It was beautifully presented with a sprig of the fresh herb on top. Though it’s far from the best or most unique entree available, I’m sure this would be a simple, dependable crowd-pleaser.
I’ve genuinely enjoyed everything I’ve tried at Happy Flower thus far. Although I’ve only dined there twice, it definitely makes the list of my favorite vegan-friendly restaurants in the South Bay! I can’t wait to visit again soon. #veganrestaurant
