I’ve been vegetarian since I was 16 years old in 1986 (vegan for the last
3) and somehow I have never bought soy curls to make at home?! 🤔 I kept seeing them come up on ig recipes so we ordered some from Amazon for the pantry. Last night, I decided to break them out and mixed with some stuff I had on hand to go with fried rice. I used cabbage, onion, garlic and jalapeño and added the soaked soy curls, then finished with a quick sauce of dark soy and mirin. The soy curls were super easy and they really absorb the flavor of the sauce. In this preparation though, I’d rather use firm tofu. Maybe there’s another recipe that these will work better. All in all, I’m not sure I missed anything not eating these all these years but they were convenient and could be useful in the right dish. I’ve got a couple more bags in the pantry and will try again.
