Save this one as as one of your go-to spots whenever you’re in Berlin. 🤗 In a significant nod to the growing appetite for plant-based foods , Rewe, Germany's second-biggest supermarket chain, is diving into something exciting in Berlin-Friedrichshain: their first ever all-vegan spot, "REWE voll pflanzlich.", which translates to “REWE fully plant-based”. Located in the old Veganz store, they promise an expansive range of over 2,700 vegan products. There's a snack bar where you can grab a bite of fresh fruit or vegan sushi, a spot for some seriously good soft ice cream, and all kinds of baked treats. Plus, they're stocking up on eco-friendly drugstore items, so you can pick up your essentials and stay true to your eco-values. Germany has the highest rate of vegetarianism in Europe and supports over 1.5 million vegans in addition to over 40 million in the country who self-identify as flexitarian, according to data from the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. Inspired by the success of their sister chain BILLA in Austria, and backed by the growing flexitarian community in Germany, the store is a a one-stop-shop for plant-based food, eco-friendly consumer products, baked goods, and much more. We love to see this fresh take on what shopping can be, right in the heart of Berlin!
