For the 1st day of Spring (last Sunday), I made Persian Marzipan Candy “Toot” which means mulberry. This is a vegan, no-bake dessert made in a few minutes with 5 ingredients.
Ingredients
1/2 cup of ground almonds
1/2 cup of powdered sugar(confectioners sugar)
¼ teaspoon powdered cardamom
2 Tbs rosewater
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/8 cup slivered almonds (or pistachios)
Instructions
1. Mix the almonds, powdered sugar and cardamom.
2. Add in 1 tablespoon of rosewater and mix. Repeat with the 2nd tablespoon of rosewater. The mixture should come together as a dough now - test it with your fingers. If it has some give and feels like dough, you're ready!
3. Place the granulated sugar in a plate- this is what you'll roll the formed “toot” in to coat. Pinch a piece of dough and roll between your palms into a ball about the size of a grape. Roll each ball in the granulated sugar and finally, insert a long almond sliver (I used pistachio) into the fatter end to make it look like the stem of the mulberry fruit.
