Gluten free ! Vegan ! Sourdough bagels !
With non ultra processed ingredients ! From a small & ethical UK business !
I got so excited when I saw these on Abel & Cole’s website (and I still am).
Pros are - they taste really nice. They look really good on the outside but a bit airy looking on the inside (I will add a photo when I get one). They freeze well cut in half and they toast quickly. They don’t fall apart at all. They are organic and contain no weird binders.
Cons are - they are too dry to be eaten without toasting. I take this as GF tax and can deal with it but it’s something to be aware of if you were buying them dreaming of soft bagels.
They are £1.50 per bagel. So that’s £6 for a pack of 4. Which made me cry a little bit inside. It was worth it for the novelty. I haven’t eaten a bagel in about 10 years. I feel a bit more like a ‘normal’ person as I usually feel like the odd one out with my very small & dense GF millet bread.
I’m still undecided if I’m going to buy these regularly because the price seems high. But they are far cheaper than eating out. I think I will get them if I need an easily transportable lunch on a walk as they’re not crumbly at all.
And maybe the cinnamon & raisin flavour will tempt me next.
