Anthony's vital wheat gluten is my top pick when I want to whip up some "wheat meat." The texture is always perfect and I can always count on the quality.
They sell it in a 1.5 lb bag for about $18, but if you go for the 4 lb bag at $25, you get a bit of a deal. They also offer bundles with nutritional yeast or TVP at a discount price.
This time, I used Anthony's vital wheat to make "sausages" for sausage and pepper heroes. I served it to friends and also made sandwiches to sell at the booth, where a lot of our customers aren’t vegan, ( although I'm working on that 😉) and everyone loved it. They couldn’t believe it was meatless!
