I'm counting this as the first French onion soup I've ever had. I had something with the same name at a vegan restaurant in Duluth, MN, but it was nothing like this. It was pretty watery and not covered in cheese.

This was absolutely incredible! I mean it's onions, French bread, and vegan cheese; you really can't go wrong with that! The gruyere on top was really flavorful and delicious. I have some Rebel Cheese gruyere waiting for me at home, so I think trying out some homemade soup is in my future! Even though it was a warm day here in NYC, I was very happy we picked this soup as a starter.
