This consist of two Sunwarrior protein mixes, peanut butter, plant milk (I selected soy milk), and cacao powder. I’ve been learning a lot about protein lately because I joined a Big Loser competition a week ago with my coworkers. I need to work especially hard because I’m at a disadvantage for being at an ideal weight already, but I have room for improvement on body fat, which is why I joined. This means working out almost everyday to burn fat and build muscle, which requires extra protein. I learned that I need about 70 grams of protein a day, and at least 20 grams right after working out. This is a wake-up call for me because looking at the foods I eat every day, most of it only has between 0 to just a few grams, with only my Sunwarrior Collagen Builder being the most, at 14 grams of protein. My minimal daily intake of protein probably explains why in the past when I used to work out regularly at the gym, I would never feel any stronger, because I probably wasn’t really building any muscle (including when I wasn’t vegan yet).

The ingredients in this Recovery Smoothie is similar ingredients to some of the smoothies I make, so that is why I chose this, to see how similar in taste it is. At about $12, it’s so much cheaper to make myself. This one had a little more banana flavor than my homemade one, but otherwise very similar and really good. Peanut butter has 8 g per serving. As soon as I got home after buying this smoothie, I worked out for an hour, and then drank this up, so I met my protein goal with this post workout, and will start making this almost everyday for post workout during this competition.
