For Christmas, my incredibly thoughtful sister got me 12 vegan chocolate bars (8 varieties). I was so blown away and happy. Although I had already tried a couple of them, most were new to me as I’m not sure where to get vegan chocolate bars in Toronto. Plus, I really don’t eat a lot of chocolate bars, even in my pre-vegan days. But one that I was especially eager to try was Kit Kat. Thankfully 4 of the 12 chocolates were Kit Kat.
I absolutely loved the taste of this Kit Kat and I can’t wait to have the other three. It looks the same, it snaps apart the same and I think it tastes the same. It’s probably been 20 years since I’ve had one. The size of the chocolate bar looked a little smaller than I thought the comparable non-vegan one did, but I don’t know if this perception is correct. It may also be the result of shrinkflation.
I don’t know where she got this chocolate bar (other than somewhere in New York State, where she lives) and I don’t know the cost. Like many other vegan items, there was probably a premium in the price.
If all Nestlé were did was substitute “a delicious vegan alternative to milk chocolate” (see one of the photos), then why can’t this be done more often? Hopefully Nestlé will expand its vegan offerings.
I would definitely get this again, not only because it’s delicious, but because this item has to sell for Nestlé to be incentivized to continue making it.
