My Dad is a huge chocolate feen. Especially dark chocolate. It was always somewhat of a tradition to pick him up a dark chocolate bar when I was at the grocery store. This brand was always cool to me, and I loved the concept of giving back to endangered species and I used to love the pictures of the animals. However, 10 + years later, from when I started getting these bars, I, of course, realize that there's much more surrounding chocolate when it comes to ethics.
There are several different flavors of bars. This one has roasted almonds for a nice crunch and sea salt that enhances the chocolate flavor. It's also non- gmo and 72% cocoa. They have great packaging as well, so they make perfect little gifts.
Most of their products are certified vegan, but some also contain dairy. I do wish they'd drop the milk chocolate bars or utilize plant milks. The vegan in me can't help but notice some contradictions on their website when they speak of being against exploitation and wanting to help animals. I wish they'd extend that compassion to cows as well. This brand also states that they are committed to fair trading practices while supporting local farmers in West Africa, and they do not employ child labor. Overall, I would recommend this brand. In Ohio, they're easily found at Kroger and Whole Foods.
