Earthshine

Sorry for the poor photo quality, but it was late at night 🙈

I’m not a huge fan of the name, but my curiosity got the better of me so I bought it to add to hubby’s birthday treat stash 😄

We were both VERY pleasantly surprised by this! Reminded us of mushroom biltong, but it’s made of carrots 🥕 who knew carrots were so versatile?! A very nice savoury snack, and I’m keen to try out the other ‘flavours’.

ecobunny How would you rate it as a facon, though? I've been wanting to try it but it's always out of stock where I am.1 likeReply
taz It’s not what I would call ‘facon’.. it’s not intended to cook with or anything like that.. it’s seasoned, dried carrot to eat as a snack. It tasted more like a crispy kind of biltong to me, than bacon. (Which I’m totally happy with 😃)1 likeReply
ecobunny Aah. 'Because it says Bacon, I thought it was a fake one.Reply
taz Yeah the name is pretty misleading 🙈 it’s really good, though! Hope you get to try it 😎1 likeReply
ecobunny Definitely!Reply
Earthshine Oh dear, where is that please?Reply
Earthshine Happy you really liked it!! Yes this is a snack, not for cooking. Curious why the name was interpreted as misleading, very much not our intention!!!1 likeReply
taz Hi there 👋 I read the description of the product and understood it was a snack, but the word ‘bacon’ could be interpreted as something one would cook and eat warm - like a fake-meat alternative… the ‘facon’ ecobunny was referring to. I think ‘dried carrot biltong’ would be a more apt description of the product, but that’s just my opinion 🙂my reason for disliking the name is just a personal dislike for the word ‘bacon’ which is a euphemism for pig 🐷 and disconnects people from who they are eating when they eat ‘bacon’. I guess ‘biltong’ is equally problematic, but nowadays vegetable biltong is more and more common 😅1 likeReply
taz P.S. I really enjoyed this product, and the others I’ve tried in your range! I would gladly recommend them to anyone. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my reviews and hope my feedback has not caused offense 💚 1 likeReply
