fellfromclear Sorry if I'm asking something strange..but isn't this bad for dogs in the long run? Since they aren't omnivourous like us? My cats do like to eat plants but just occasionaly. Pretty much they prefer meat above anything else. My dog is a picky eater so..she's even more difficult to dealt with in that sense. The only thing that she eats willingly is a type of grass when we go walk in the woods.Reply
gitaneta All i can tell is my experience.Since Mac and Nené came home (he with a year and a half and she with three years) we feed them only with plant based food.Dry and can.We rely on brands as Benevo,Yarrah and Veggie Animals,because they have created perfect balanced products,that obviously have good taste,as long as they love it,and are good for their health.They are perfectly healthy and there are reviews and statistics that confirm it's perfect for them.The same with Niki & Morgana the cats,we feed them plant based food and they are so happy and healthy cats.I suppose that if you change to veggie food with adult animals,It can be hard in the beginning,but i'm sure sooner or later they can get used to it.I'm happy to answer if you have any other questions 💚1 likeReply
fellfromclear I'll try to mix it up at least! Hopefully I'll find something that they'll like! 👍 I think that it would be beneficial for their teeth. That's one of the things we noticed when shifting to a more plant based diet! I don't really know why I haven't really thought about this before..well I guess because I've always thought that "we" (humans) can go vegan if we want but not our animals. I suppose there's always two sides of a coin in everything. Sadly I've forgot about it a bit. On tv the only news they show about vegans are the "bad" ones. Like showing just the ones that are totally obssesed and thus making bad choices. But I've never really liked doing and thinking the same way the majority do, more so if it's unjustified. If something has always been the way it has, it doesn't mean it should remain the same. Thank you for your reply.Reply
sofiferrer Hi!!! My five dogs are vegan since puppies, they are perfectly well and healthy. They never had any health problems. Dogs are biologically omnivorous as us and they can thrive on a plant based diet if it is well prepared with a nutritionist veterinary. There are many new options in the market like The Green Dog (US, Argentina, Chile) or VeggieAnimals (i think it is from Spain). 1 likeReply

gitaneta Good idea if you mix it up 🙂 It's usual not to think in the vegan options for our furry friends,because we always see comercials on TV of non vegan options,and we always did what we supossed it was better for them.But i'm convinced a plant based diet is much better for us and for them 💚 I totally agree with you with all you say.Things that aren't ok must be changed 💚1 likeReply
fellfromclear Well we always cooked for our dogs, cats also sometimes! I think cooking expands the lifespan of our animals, but it's added work for sure! Our oldest cat is 21 this year while my mother's is 24..while our Great Dane is going for 9 (our previous Great Dane was 12)👵🧓 so we'll start changing things up 😀 maybe by adding more veggies. fellfromclear I've read that the oldest cat alive was 38 years old 😅 I told my cat: you still have a lot more years to go! I thought that you were old, but you're still a youngster 😁 All our cats are rescued, except for the balck cat. Anyway, I'm glad that here things changed since I was young, we all made a step ahead for the animals..almost all are sterilized and there are almost no feral cats around. Here were I live there a none..at least I haven't seen one this year. There are still people that treat them badly though 😢 but they treat poorly even their kids so I'm not surprised for the animals..it's really sad though. For both.1 likeReply
