So, my sister came into my room and told me that Papa Murphy’s has vegan cheese that you can add to their pizzas. I ignored her like the great brother I am but it got me thinking. I was too dead to make anything for dinner so I was like, fuck it, let’s give their vegan pizza a roll. I went on Papa Murphy’s website I started researching. I clicked on the three line “hamburger” button that revealed a drop down. On the list it said Dairy Free Cheese. It showed that the cheese they use is actually Violife mozzarella shreds. I’ve had Violife cheese and it’s probably one of my favorites so I was hype about that. I looked on the website VeggL to see what kind of vegan options Papa Murphy’s had just to be sure I was ordering a fully vegan pizza. All the crusts except the gluten free one, and the stuffed if they don’t offer vegan cheese for it, are vegan. Some of their sauces including the Original Pizza Sauce are vegan. And all of the vegetables toppings are obviously vegan. So I just ordered the Dairy-Free Garden Veggie Pizza. It comes with mushrooms, black olives, mixed onions, green peppers, Roma tomatoes, Violife shreds, and traditional sauce. You can always take off or add other toppings when you order. This is pretty much their only vegan option. It ended up being a $23 family size pizza after adding spinach to one side, using a 25% promo code, and adding a 10% tip. I went and picked it up at the scheduled time. The dude there was polite and informative. I asked him where to pick up my pizza if I ordered online and he pointed me to this “pizza shelf” more or less that had my pizza ready to go. Then I went home and whipped it in the oven. It comes with a slip that has baking instructions and an advertisement. Honestly, not one of the best vegan pizzas I’ve had but if you’re looking for a easy, decently convenient, vegan pizza it’s not bad. The Violife cheese shreds become gooey after baking like vegan cheese tends to do, which causes it to stick to the roof of your mouth when you’re eating it. The cheese has pretty good but subtle mozzarella cheesy flavor. The crust was crust, nothing special and veggies were veggies. I would say the cheese was probably the best part of this pizza. I definitely had higher expectations for this to be better than it was. Overall, it was food, and it was vegan. I’m just glad bigger chains of restaurants are starting to offer more vegan options. Remember to “Poke” this restaurant to offer more vegan and sustainable options!
