Visited Miao Yi years ago on one of my first dates with my now-wife so thought it’s appropriate to have a last meal there before they shut at the end of the year. I’ve never had venison before, it was….interesting. The sauce and ingredients are similar to hot plate deer meat which i love but the texture is kinda strange, kinda like crispy beancurd skin.

I know this is a really popular dish, but unfortunately it wasn't to my liking. There was just something about the flavour that I didn't like, but I don't think it was a bad dish by any means. They were super generous with the lettuce and dipping sauce to go with the mock pig, which was nice.

Don’t get fooled by the name, at Miao Yi they don’t serve chicken eggs, so it’s mock egg :) the dumplings are very tasty and crunchy. Goes well with the veggies and the really fresh spinach. So fragrant and tasty.
