I’m a bit behind on posting 🥴 (my phone is brimming with photos-lol) This absolutely delicious cake was offered around Halloween. So moist and spicy with, hands down, the best vegan buttercream frosting I’ve ever tasted! Just the right amount of pumpkin. Made with so much love and attention to detail. Houlden’s makes the BEST cakes! I was talking with a lovely couple in line while waiting to purchase pastries. They had recently special ordered one of Hannah’s cakes for a birthday and said that it was the best cakes they had ever had too-called it otherworldly! #womenowned #cake #vegancake

Croissant wrapped Upton’s Naturals ‘Updog.’ This was a match made in Heaven. Normally sold with some darned fine looking spicy brown mustard! (Which is one of the few flavors my tastebuds so ‘NO’ to so I went au naturel.) The BEAUTIFUL fresh flaky croissant was in perfect balance with the saltiness of the dog. This was the perfect delivery system for the 20g of updog protein! I just can’t stay out of Houlden’s-everything is vegan, outrageously delicious and made by the nicest couple! #veganisnotscary #croissant #vegancroissant #hotdog

They are ALL so good. Each and every pastry I’ve tried from Houlden’s Vegan Bakery has been truly amazing. This one is up at the top of my favorites list! “Flaky danish pocket filled with dark cherry preserves and topped with streusel” (Menu description.) Super fresh-made with love and quality ingredients! The cherry filling was perfectly balanced between sweet and tart. The streusel topping so good! #veganisnotscary #pastry #veganpastry

I think this wins the award for the best piece of cake I’ve ever eaten! 🙏🏆🙌 Super moist dark chocolate cake with salted tahini buttercream. The buttercream was outrageously good!! Had to share with a friend as this was a VERY generous (gigantic) slice!! Really nice balance of flavors-the cake itself wasn’t too sweet. Deep and chocolaty but not over the top. The dark chocolate drizzle and buttercream were soooo good! Absolutely made with love! I have so much praise for Houlden’s a family run-local-small business doing BIG things! 🙌 Wow! 🙌 Super rich and decadent! Felt like I had a very naughty splurge for breakfast! “Croissant dough swirled into a muffin tin, baked, then rolled in espresso sugar, filled with a dark chocolate espresso mousse.” (Menu description.) Everything about it was delicious! Loved the dusting of espresso sugar and the mousse was out of this world! Rich and chocolaty but not overly sweet. Just the right amount of it. Another one from my Houlden’s Rise Above bonanza! “Cinnamon roll shaped croissant dough with cinnamon sugar & crushed hazelnuts” (from their website.) Super flaky, lovely vanilla drizzle. Truth be told I gifted this one to a friend-it was given nothing but praise! He grew up in his parents bakery so I consider him an expert judge of pastry character-lol. 🫐💚 Another gem from Houlden’s Rise Above! 💜🍃 Flaky laminated danish dough with fresh basil, blueberry jam & cream cheese. Garnished with vanilla buttercream and fresh blueberries. I am not even a little bit ashamed to admit that I’ve eaten 6 pastries in the last two days… 1. Because I couldn’t control myself. 2. Because Life is meant to be lived right?! This was part of this past weekend’s Summer Preorder Box. An explosion of flavors. The blueberry filling had a lovely tartness and the hit of fresh basil made it really unique. This was the best buttercream I have ever eaten! It’s really rich & sweet so a dollop was the perfect amount . Houlden’s (which is completely vegan) is truly an awesome place. Good people doing good things in the community and the pastries are to die for! #womenowned #pastry #veganpastry
