This Taiwanese #streetfood inspired restaurant is in the heart of Soho, London. I was delighted to see that they have a separate menu dedicated to vegan dishes. The staff were very helpful in guiding me to choose a balanced selection. This #baobun was a strange taste for me. In fact it had no taste. The bun bread was light but had no distinguishing taste. The fried cube was succulent and had a nice flaky texture but it was like when you have a terrible cold and lose your sense of taste. In stark contrast the top of the cube was dressed with extremely vinegary pickle and raw garlic. That ignited the taste buds but in a lingering way I’m afraid I didn’t enjoy. It seemed like the two elements of bland and fire needed some middle ground. On a positive note, daikon is from the radish family and provides excellent vitamins minerals and fibre. I don’t know if the daikon was the white flaky part of the fried cube or the strong pickled topping. #veganinlondon #taiwanesefood #goveganfortheanimals #daikon

I found a new place to try in Soho, London. It’s a Taiwanese #streetfood inspired restaurant. The dishes are small, full of flavour but expensive. This is basically a little bowl of fries or chips as we call them in the UK, drizzled attractively with a plum as opposed to tomato ketchup. Instead of potato they use sweet potato. They were very dry so the ketchup was essential. They bulked up the meal which consisted of three small plates. They were £5 which is a lot. #veganinlondon #taiwanesefood #funbutpricey

I was in Soho looking for somewhere new to eat. This dinky diner had a small dedicated vegan menu so I dived in. This first dish is described as #xiaochi which are substantial snacks, that can be eaten together or with more substantial dishes like the Spanish tapas or Middle Eastern Levantine meze, or alone as a light meal or snack like the French goûter This dish included eryngii #mushroom with what looked and tasted like very wide ribboned pasta. It was the tastiest of the snacks that the staff member recommended. The mushroom element is miniscule, with the mushrooms chopped into tiny cubes. Nonetheless, the tangy flavour was good. I was hungry and needed a few dishes. As each one is dainty to say the least, this alone costing £6, I wouldn’t recommend going here for a feast if you’re on a budget. #veganinlondon #taiwanese #veganbaobuns #veganfortheanimals
