Mature style

My purpose in life is simple: I take the most inappropriate #vegancheese options and then I melt it into my #pasta dishes 🧐 This time, a #macandcheese 🧀 This had a very “rancid” coconut aftertaste that I don’t fancy & so it’s tough to recommend this over anything Violife does that simply melts better at a fraction of the price. M&S has me at many of their vegan offerings, but this is a clear miss 🧚‍♀️

This #plantbased alternative to mature cheddar cheese serves its purpose well. It’s firm and grates well ir can be melted. I usually by violife from my local shop but since M&S is right opposite my station exit, it’s sometimes convenient to shop there. It’s good that they have a section devoted to plant-based foods, but odd to me that it focuses on meat impersonators rather than tofu, pulses and beans. The alternative to cheese comes in a plastic container that is bigger than the 200g block. I can’t help wondering if that’s a marketing ploy to make it look like you’re getting more? 😼I wish they wrapped it in a more biodegradable material too. #ditchdairy #veganfortheanimals #goplantbased

Yay! My favourite vegan cheese I have discovered so far. I grated it up with red onion and took it to work to stuff into the jacket potato from the canteen. And I now love it so much I just slice it onto fresh bread and scoff it. By far the best cheddar alternative I have tried so far. Added calcium a small bonus too :)

Trovato a Londra. Si scioglie benissimo e ha un gusto formaggioso buonissimo. Peccato non si trovi in Italia.

This cheese honestly doesn't taste much different from the other supermarket own brand cheddar alternative really and it's much more expensive. Not as good as violife or cathedral city in my humble opinion but it's fine for cooking with. I made a cauliflower cheese bake with this and it turned out well, but I don't think I'll buy this again.
