TASTEWISE GOOD ALTERNATIVE TO GRATED EMMENTAL OR GRUYERE 🧀Grated Emmental or Gruyere cheese over pizza’s or pasta’s: is there a bigger food cliché?This grated plant-based cheese by Jay & Joy is a good attempt to imitate. 🧀Ingredients: It is always interesting to check what a vegan cheese is made of. In general, coconut oil is one of the ingredients often used, and so are nuts. Here, it’s 48% coconut milk, plus potato starch and manioc starch. There’s also some pea protein amongst the ingredients, which explains why this grated vegan cheese totalizes 2,7 g of protein per 100 g of product. That is not bad, if you consider that most of the vegan grated cheeses are made mainly of fats only. There’s a bit of turmeric in too, which is positive, as turmeric has natural anti-inflammatory properties. 🍕Taste/bite: The texture is, when eaten raw, the perfect imitation of classic Emmental cheese. Same thing for the flavour. Surprisingly similar. However, when sprinkled over a pizza and baked, this cheese does not melt, but tend to become crispy. 🧀💶Price: Reasonable, not so much more expensive than the dairy cheese equivalent. I paid 4,50 € (December 2022), for a total weight of 150 g. So this is value for money. 🧐Shape/Conditioning: the classic iconic airtight plastic bag for this type of cheese. 🇫🇷The brand is French and very innovative. They are also courageous, challenging the dairy cheese product market in France, right at the spot where dairy cheese making is seen as cultural heritage. So bravo for Jay & Joy! Well done! We need more companies like you!👍👍👍
Un bon râpé végétal à fondre avec un truc au four. J aime. Bien le gout
I wouldn't recommend to use it on pasta, but it's perfect if you want to melt it on veg burger before putting it in the bread!
Very nice cheese, I like it. It is mainly made of coconut milk and coconut oil. All the ingredients are organic. A bit expensive compared to the other brands (3,90 euros) #soyfree
