Good Catch Foods Fish-Free Tuna Naked in Water is a plant-based alternative to traditional tuna. It is made with a blend of sustainably sourced, non-GMO ingredients that provide protein and omega-3s. The tuna alternative has a flaky texture and savory flavor, making it suitable for making tuna salad, tuna melts, or enjoying on its own. This product is a guilt-free option for those who want to switch to a plant-based diet.

i found this tuna to be a good substitute for real tuna in a tuna salad; however, i’m sure sure if i would consume it without that extra source of flavor. the taste itself wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t exactly like tuna either and i think it is best used in a tuna salad or other dish where there are other flavors to mask the flavor of the tuna. i also noticed a large difference in texture. while the shape of the tuna “flakes” are accurate, the tuna itself doesn’t fall/break into flakes as tuna normally would. this didn’t bother me, but i did notice that it was inaccurate. overall, this was good in a tuna salad. the flavor and texture are approaching realistic, but aren’t quite there yet. i would not eat it by itself, but i would purchase it again for tuna salad purposes.

Another #veganfish product from Good Catch. The ‘Naked in Water’ flavor is simple — certainly a welcome change from the heaviness of the oil-and-herb packet. It has a fishy smell and mildly oceanic taste thanks to the algae flavorings, but not overpoweringly so. However, texture remains this plant-based tuna’s primary stumbling block: it’s chunky and tough (bordering on rubbery) in a way that I don’t personally find appetizing. It was only $0.99 at Grocery Outlet, though, so no major loss. If you’re really in the mood for vegan seafood, this brand makes significantly better frozen foods! Maybe opt for their crabless cakes or fishless patties instead for the best #leavethefishinthesea experience.
