Fresh dish, perfect for summer days. Especially loved the ginger!

Mix of sushi pieces for 10€, really good deal. They are tasty, but also quite simple, and I am spoilt by Roots and Rolls, the best vegan sushi in Barcelona, and it’s impossible for me not to compare them. Also the pictures posted here by other reviewers look much tastier 🤨 #veganisnotscary

I was really excited to eat here since I saw really lots of good reviews, and this was my first time trying proper vegan sushi restaurant. The result was really disappointing, I have to say. I ordered a tasting menu, which is basically sushi buffet with three starters. It was very expensive (about 23€), but I gave it a shot. Ok first, the starter… as a person who knows what authentic Japanese cuisine is, I was shocked to see big miso soup offered as the first starter. In Japanese cuisine, miso soup usually comes with the meal or at last (always with rice); it’s not like western soup, which comes usually as a starter. The soup was so big that it almost felt like they are trying to make me full before moving to sushi! Also there was oil in the soup (never in Japan, unless there’s fish inside or you are in Okinawa: they sometimes put oil apparently), and shiitake was sweet (again, you’ll never find sweet marinated shiitake in miso soup). The second starter of gyoza was good, but the third starter of mushrooms was too sweet. Sushi was really good in presentation, and mock salmon and shrimp had nice texture too. There were mock tuna rolls using jackfruit, which really tasted like tuna. I bet some people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. However, sushi were also either too salty or sweet. I was asked by staff if I want more when I was finishing the first batch, and I said no, to which she looked pretty surprised. I couldn’t keep eating not because I was full, but because I was overwhelmed by salt and sugar overload. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind people changing authentic recipes at all, as long as it is better than the original. If it’s worse than the original, what’s the point of changing? There were many good reviews, so if you are used to strongly salty and sweet flavour, maybe you’ll like it. However, it wasn’t my cup of tea.
