Obanzai

Hands down the best dinner I had on my trip. I queued for 1h and 15mins to eat here, as they only have 6 seats in this small #veganrestaurant, and honestly I chose it because it was the only option open until late (every place in Japan closes so early at dinner!). I did not know the excitement that would expect me. The six seats are facing the super kind boss lady, in a bar-seating style, so she prepares the dishes and passes them to you over the counter. This was the first thing I ordered and every little bit was bursting with flavour: my favourite being the tiny perfectly cut eggplant you see on the bottom left; it was not all cut through, in fact it was a whole piece, but cut with such precision and regularity to make you awe before even tasting it. Soooooo good. You can choose the option with three little plates or the one with five: I chose the former just in order to have more space in the stomach for ordering much more things. 🇯🇵 #japan #japanesefood #veganjapanesefood #veganjapan #vegankyoto

altro piatto dell’izakaya, cinque assaggini di obanzai, nome che indica la cucina di kyoto (semplice, con cibi di scarto / avanzo ecc). c’era uno squisi tofu, buonissime melanzane e un porro caramellato pazzesco. erbette stufate invece ok, così come il peperoncino verde + tofu skin, senza infamia senza lode
