Banana Bread

A very nice local cafe serving a good selection of vegan savouries and cakes. This thick slice of #bananabread was warmed and served with vegan spread. Heating it up really makes a difference otherwise it might be a bit stodgy. It’s quite pricey at £5.8 I noticed they do a more expensive ’brunch’ version with fruit compote, roast plum, whipped oat cream and maple syrup. Mmmm that sounds like the game changer needed…although you’ll be charged almost twice as much! I do love going to this cafe. This café is a local favourite. We arrived shortly before closing time so I missed out on having my banana bread toasted as the kitchen closed. I wished the staff member hadn’t told me that was their recommended way of serving it because I kept hankering for the toastiness factor 😕 It just means I’ll have to return to sample it that way another time. The cold version was very nice, dense texture, particularly good in the places where the banana had collected in moist clumps. And there were tasty surprises of walnut and veins of chocolate. I was served a substantial slab of cake which went well with an oat flat white. Coffee and cake cost £9. Definitely a treat, not for every day.
