Aubergine Karaage

🇯🇵🍆 Again, taking a leaf out of @jessskh’s book, we tried this aubergine karaage after reading her reviews. We were both astounded 🤩at how delicious it was. My partner described it like fireworks 🎆🎇going off in your mouth and then melting sweetly. Each bite is just a joy. We were wondering if they were deep fried or air fried and my partner was wishing he’d asked for the recipe it was that nice. They are in a Japanese BBQ sauce. For £4.95 this is incredible value for London as it was a very generous portion. The menu is about half vegan here so there’s loads more to try but I’ll just want the same two things next time as they were too awesome. I lived in Fukuoka-ken in Japan for two years where I fell in love with the local tonkotsu 🐖🍜ramen. It’s amazing to be able to find vegan tonkotsu ramens all over London now, when I arrived they didn’t even have tonkotsu here. Honestly, this karaage was on another level. Easily the best dish of the evening because it was like a party in your mouth. The aubergine was crunchy and the miso flavour was amazing.
