This Taiwanese #streetfood inspired restaurant is in the heart of Soho, London.
I was delighted to see that they have a separate menu dedicated to vegan dishes.
The staff were very helpful in guiding me to choose a balanced selection.
This #baobun was a strange taste for me. In fact it had no taste. The bun bread was light but had no distinguishing taste. The fried cube was succulent and had a nice flaky texture but it was like when you have a terrible cold and lose your sense of taste.
In stark contrast the top of the cube was dressed with extremely vinegary pickle and raw garlic. That ignited the taste buds but in a lingering way I’m afraid I didn’t enjoy. It seemed like the two elements of bland and fire needed some middle ground.
On a positive note, daikon is from the radish family and provides excellent vitamins minerals and fibre. I don’t know if the daikon was the white flaky part of the fried cube or the strong pickled topping.
