Here’s a long overdue review that I kept putting off writing for around a year. I actually thought these bars were OK at the time — the all-#chocolate #brownie flavor is definitely an improvement over the chocolate chip cookie dough bars I reviewed previously — but they were quickly overshadowed by competitors whose texture I prefer.
I find all of the classic No Cow products exceedingly dense — as though someone created a solid block of compressed #protein and #fiber. They definitely have the dryness to match, too. Though the cocoa flavor masks it somewhat, I wouldn’t recommend this #bar to anyone with sensitivities to sweeteners like stevia or sugar alcohols (#noaddedsugar,) or anyone who will be bothered by a bit of a protein aftertaste. These bars contain palm oil, too (claims to be sustainably sourced.)
Despite its impressive macros, this bar wasn’t very filling for me. I felt better eating it before a workout, when I didn’t want much in my stomach, rather than afterward while feeling ravenous. I recall these being (ancient) #groceryoutletfinds; they are definitely too expensive for me to buy at regular price. Not bad, but I’ve learned that I enjoy a lighter, crispier texture — like Simply Protein, NuGo, or even this brand’s own marshmallow crunchies treats.
