Review of Farinheira Veg - Fumeiro Vegano by malcolmcg

This is a vegan version of a traditional Portuguese sausage that @colphax and I picked up in Lisbon. We ate it with some mushroom tortellini, and it was yummy. The idea behind the non vegan version is that it is flour mixed with pork fat, so this one reflected that by having a texture I had not experienced in the context of a sausage before. It really was like they made a flour based sausage saturated with meaty, smoky, paprika-y oil. I enjoyed it, but it certainly wasn’t my favorite sausage ever. A bit too salty in my opinion. My partner pointed out that they taste kind of like tarrali, which I agree with. Overall, would recommend trying because it’s cool to have access to vegan versions of traditional meat based foods.
