Writing this review makes me considerably sad 😔 LaGula, like its more established stablemate the Hungry Tapir, dishes out some excellent food, albeit at a high price point. Innovative and easy on the eye. All of which this #smoothie was. The #chocolate and the #cacaonibs and the #espresso combined to give it a roasty intensity that was tempered only by the smoothness of the #banana. It was delicious stuff 😋
The sad part is that their service is shitty. On my last visit I waited more than 10 minutes for my order to be taken and almost as long to get someone's attention for the bill; both times I just marched up to the counter where I got a ringside view of their administrative incompetence. This time they brought this drink round nice and early along with a cutlery set for the food, then left me to wait 45 minutes for the pastrami sandwich that I thought I'd ordered. It never arrived, and every other table was being served. At some point they brought a croissant round before they realised it was for the table next to mine. Eventually when I summoned them to check, I was told that there was no food order in the system for my table. Not that they'd dropped the ball, not that maybe they mistakenly removed it from the queue when they served the wrong thing to me, but that there was no order made in the first place. I'm not a tolerant or patient person at the best of times, but I absolutely hate being gaslighted or lied to.
My uncouth reaction will see to it that I'm never welcome back here as long as the same (crappy) manager is around. I imagine these guys think that because their Instagram game is strong they can ignore the basics of customer service. Maybe I should go help their competitors put better UGC on the gram 😪
