Whoahhhh this was an exceptional burger.
I was up in the forested area and only had one day to spend in KL n someone recommended me to go to Hijau.

The patty was lovely, potato chick'ish n tasty. It was served with home made spicy'ish achar. The pandan flavoured bun wasn't overpowering. Tht sambal eggplant was a frigging killer. And yes, they have ulam raja tht comes with it. Ulam Raja is loosely translated to King of Greens/Salad.
My mum considers ulam raja as the asian rocket salad, and for once i won't disagree with her. Such a perfect combo to go with the burger.
My meat eating friend had this burger and he was blown away. I sort of regretted not ordering this. Pfffft!

I like the food and service of Hijau, im not so sure if I enjoy the whole dining experience of this kind of 'hipster themed' foodcourt.
But, this building is an old cinema building and it's in the heart of old KL.

If u're always on a lookout for vegan Malay or Malaysian dishes, this place is a must try.
But yes they do hv a nice range on their menu.

Gosh the whole Petaling Street area is so gentrified now, so so different. 1 likeReply
elej91 oh yeah, petaling street has been slowly changing. Very hipster now. Before this it was only a cheap backpacker place and a place to get counterfeit stuff.

(And back in my parent's time, it was the place to get your shopping and buy stuff for the new school year)Reply
skootykoots But I'm glad tht the street side hawkers tht i always go to last time were still there, the hokkien mee, claypot rice.
But the whole vibe n character of the old Petaling is pretty much, well, compromised.
errrrghhh. such a bummer. 1 likeReply
elej91 I like that Petaling street still has all of the old hawkers too, and not just these new places. The 'thieves' market' is another thing that has continued to survive.

If you want to see old architecture and walk up-style apartments, the Pudu area is still pretty intact. You can also check out the famous peanut and sesame 'tong su' in the area.1 likeReply
