I was back home in Austin, TX over Spring break and WOW. Going to Kerbey Lane with my friend made me realize how much I miss the delicious vegan food in Austin!! I ordered the vegan breakfast platter with the tofu scramble, one gingerbread and one vanilla vegan pancake, and subbed the veggie sausage for potatoes. My least favorite thing on the plate was sadly the potatoes. They were very under seasoned and diced too thin, I think I would rather take my chances with the sausage next time. Next was the tofu scramble. It was savory and hearty, very filling and felt like I was actually eating eggs. If you miss your scrambled eggs, this is the dish for you. Now what in my opinion was the star of the show: the vegan pancakes. These pancakes were moist, chewy, and full of flavor. I always remember how heavy the pancakes at iHop made me feel back when I was vegetarian. But no, these pancakes don’t have that heavy egg taste and feel. They are so so so much better, I can’t further explain it except to say go try it! As for what flavor I recommend, definitely the gingerbread as it had a stronger, richer flavor. The vanilla was absolutely delicious too, so really you can’t go wrong. And ask the server about the pancake of the day, because sometime it can be made vegan!! 10/10 recommend Kerbey to anyone visiting Austin or looking for a new favorite. Go get it!!
