#Ikea says that the vegan fish is made in the #Netherlands from rice protein and that it’s free of soy. #soyfree The #veganfish had a good structure but was so dry! Plus it didn’t taste fishy. Due to the concept of IKEA restaurants, where all food is prepared in advance, the breading wasn’t crispy anymore, but rather soggy. This wasn’t great. Usually it comes with tartar sauce but it’s not vegan, so the dry #fish had to be eaten without sauce 🎣 The #fries 🍟 were only lukewarm but surprisingly well salted and still a bit crispy. It’s great they offer this but the execution could be better #dobetter #sweetdreamsaremadeofgrease

Not a realistic looking sausage but better in taste than the new realistic version! #IKEA It was good! Sort of indeterminately #savory. And yes, the texture was as soft and mushy as you’d expect from a #vegetable #patty, but with the #mustard, and fried onions from the toppings bar, you add a tasty wallop of spice, flavor, and crunch. The toppings are definitely key! On itself the sausage tastes good, like a vegetable patty. #hotdogs

In mid-2023, #IKEA introduced their new vegan #hotdog. It’s made with a realistic looking #sausage, a bun and their complimentary toppings that you add yourself. The texture is realistic, and so are the looks! It even snaps! With animal-based hot dogs, there is usually a casing around the meat, which provides a snap when you take a bite. The snap of the plant-based hotdog is meant to mimic the snap and sensory experience of biting into a regular animal-based hot dog 🌭 It contains #riceprotein, #onion, apple, salt, pepper, and smokiness to give the plant-based hot dog a characteristic sausage flavour. And at the first bite I was impressed. Very sausage like. But after the second bite a strong wheat taste was present, and the sausage continued tasting like flour, even with condiments. Not so nice! Very cheap at 0.75€ though!

Finally tried their vegan plant balls 🌱 you can buy them in a big pack in their freezer section as well and make them at home. These came prepared and were still hot. 8 balls for 99ct - that’s what I call a deal. They taste so real that I’m still wondering if they gave me the real meatballs lol. Didn’t get sick from it so it must’ve been the vegan version 🌱 #veganisnotscary

I moved to a new apartment in Utrecht and needed stuff from IKEA 🪑 So it was time to finally try their famous HotDog and I went all out: got the double one lmao. For 90 cents you get two veggie sausages in a bun. You can then top them with sauces like ketchup or mustard and add fried onions 🧅 And I must say: it was tasty but nothing I’d get again. The veggie dog with one sausage costs only 50ct btw #veganisnotscary
