Hmm, wanted to like this traditional flaky pastry. But it underdelivered - the crust tasted a tad stale and was more crumbly than flaky, while the black sesame filling was cloying and hardly potent stuff. There goes my love affair with these piahs. I think it's over. 🥹

Dubbed 'yuan yang' for its yinyang-like filling of black sesame and light lotus paste, this traditional Chinese pastry was decent but not much to shout about. The mishmash of black sesame seeds with white sesame seeds were cute though.

The size of a thumb, this thimble-like unglazed pineapple roll was chomped by the kid in two bites, followed by: "More". Not half bad then.

What I really admire about this family-run establishment is its innovative take on piah fillings like lotus paste tinged with the likes of green tea and coffee. But the classic piah filling of salty bean paste failed to make the mark for me, though the flaky crust was still pretty good.

Balestier Road is famous for its traditional piah, or Chinese flaky pastries. The most famous, Loong Fatt, is not vegan-friendly as their piah contains lard. But the ones at 603 Tau Sar Piah are (with the exception of one cheese piah). This pineapple piah was like a huge pineapple tart, but extra flaky. Pretty good!

Sweet bean still the best. 😁 this green tea tasted all right but too modern for my liking. Traditional tastes for traditional goodies ftw.

Always grabbing 1 or 2 when im around the corner. Skin still so fragrAnt and flakey after a few hours. Favourite TSP!

Tastes like our cny pineapple tart! The skin so flakey. And the TSP so fat with filling and crust. The stall is along the same stretch as Loong Fatt. Havent tried Loong Fatt but in my opinion, 603 TSP could be better, minus the queue! Their TSP is vegan except for those that require dairy fillings like Cheese TSP. Price is about 90cents or $1 per piece.

I called earlier today and learnt that their tau sar piahs do not contain pork/lard, butter, eggs. Except if you choose their cheese flavoured tau sar piahs. Not a veg shop, their signature i think is some chicken puff thing. But their TSPs are made vegan. Not suitable for those that mind cross contamination. Their crust is crispy and flakey. Fillings very generous too! And they are thicker than House of Tau Sar Piahs. Very near to House of Tau sar pia and the famous but non-veg Loong Fatt.
