Simulate Chicken Original Nuggs

These are old photos I’m finally reviewing, but Simulate Nuggs are one of my favorite vegan chick’n nugget brands. These get nice and crispy on the outside—even more so than their spicy version, in my experience, though the flavoring on those is bomb! Plus, a fun branding and marketing approach always gets points from me. #veganisnotscary

I felt somewhat apprehensive about going all-in on 2lbs of unfamiliar nuggets, but I decided to give these Nuggs a chance since they were pretty discounted. They didn’t blow me away, but they’re not half bad, either. As nuggets go, Simulate’s are on the smaller side, with a higher surface-area-to-volume ratio and, consequently, much more breading than “meat.” They got super crispy in the oven, and something about the seasoning was very nostalgic, evoking the dinosaur nuggets of my youth. I did notice a slight aftertaste, so they’re probably best eaten with condiments. I’d rank them about middle of the pack — I feel like the vegan nugget market has become fairly competitive, and I consider these sort of average in terms of texture and flavor. I won’t have any issues finishing this box, but I’m undecided as to whether I’d buy another.

Vraiment déçue 😞. Je préfère de loin les croquettes de Gardein. Les enfants les ont boudées au point où ce sont Bella et Fräulein qui ont terminé les croquettes après quelques jour au frigo.

I learned about Simulate Chicken Nuggs after watching a video off of a vegan YouTube channel. I saw these vegan chicken nuggets at Target recently and wondered why not. Simulate Chicken Nuggs were average compared to other vegan chicken nugget alternatives. The breading reminded me of McDonald’s chicken nuggets, but they were not juicy and meaty enough for me.
