Can’t say no to a discount, especially on a day when I forgot my lunch and just needed something convenient and office-microwaveable. This #wrap was $2.24 from the discount freezer at Safeway, which always seems to be full of assorted vegan products — a fact I’m never sure whether to mourn or celebrate. I didn’t check the best-by date until much later and was surprised to see 2022, but I’m happy to report that it was definitely edible, and I felt fine afterward. I covered the #frozen wrap in a damp paper towel and microwaved as directed, but that didn’t seem to work so well. The tortilla got pretty soggy and gummy. It even burst and leaked in one spot, so I ended up eating it with a fork, defeating the whole point of the portable burrito format. Still, the filling wasn’t half bad. Although it’s styled as Moroccan, the sweet potato and spices reminded me of the (possibly discontinued?) Trader Joe’s Super Burrito. The #beans and grains are not spicy but just well-seasoned, though a tad more salty than I would prefer. I wouldn’t mind trying more of this brand’s wraps if I were in need of a quick, light meal. Cool Beans has some really neat-sounding, global-legume-inspired flavors, although they probably wouldn’t be my first choice since the wraps are not especially filling.

I had to read the cooking instructions a few times as I could not believe it was supposed to be microwaved for 3 minutes total. I think it can do with less, as the tortilla was a little tough. When it was cooking, I thought it didn’t smell appetizing. It was kinda weird smelling. But, after cooling from being the temperature of the surface of the sun, it had a very good flavor. Mild but flavorful. I would recommend this product, but next time I’m going to try cutting the microwave time down a little because as I got to the end (where there’s mostly tortilla and little filling), it was crunchy, even when wrapped with a moist paper towel during cooking. Not that that’s necessarily bad, it still had a good flavor. #abillionturns3
