The idea of shredding tofu was intriguing considering I didn’t know it could be done. So I tried it using Rooster Extra Firm Tofu I got at No Frills for $2.50. I think the regular price is $2.99. After pressing the tofu to squeeze out the water, I shredded it using the same kind of shredder that you would shred mozzarella cheese. I added a bit of oil, paprika and garlic powder, mixed it, and spread it out over a baking sheet. After about 25 minutes in the oven at 400°, it was crispy. Look at the third and second last photos (before and after). It tasted pretty good and I would definitely do this again. I used the shredded baked tofu in wraps. See the last photo. Tofu is a relatively cheap source of protein and iron. According to Google’s AI Overview, tofu has the following benefits: Protein source: Tofu is a good source of plant-based protein, making it a great addition to vegetarian and vegan diets. Versatility: Tofu can be used in a variety of dishes, from stir-fries to soups to desserts. Affordability: Tofu is a relatively inexpensive way to add protein to your diet. Nutrient-rich: Tofu contains essential amino acids, calcium, and iron. I don’t cook with tofu often simply because I’m not sure what I’m doing with it sometimes. But this shredded tofu experience has given me more confidence. I’m now eager to try other tofu recipes.

I have never seen #extrafirm #tofu from this brand before! And clearly no one else has either as this it this item's #firstproductreview !!! I found it at No Frills and it was $2.50. I used it tonight to make these delicious chickpea-battered tofu bites for an epic ceasar salad dinner! I made a wet batter or oat milk and Chickpea flour. Then the dry mix was pea protein, nutritional yeast, garlic, paprika, salt, pepper, sesame seeds. It turned out nicely, but next time I would marinate the inside of the tofu, as it tasted bland on the inside. However, it was better with my homemade ceasar dressing. And the vegan rice paper bacun. It was a filling and delicious dinner!
