This dish was okay I would say. Had lots of that herby-earthy flavour but may not be everyone’s cup of tea
This stew was on the lighter side compared to the other items, but the taste was unique and loved the mushrooms and bamboo shoots in it!
I LOVE THIS - this will be a bias opinion as I LOVE mushrooms! I have never tried bamboo shoots so this is my first time! For some reason it also tasted like white radish :)
Very nonya-style. Pongteh is a slow braised stew traditionally cooked with meats. The gravy usually consists of fermented bean paste (tau cheo), soy sauce, cinnamon and cloves. Here there's mushrooms and bamboo shoots in place of meat. Very nice to see a restaurant offering this many vegan options! #veganuary
